Pirates Rule!
I saw Pirates of the Caribbean yesterday, and it was probably one of the most entertaining movies I’ve seen in several years. All of the good things you’ve heard about this movie are absolutely true. Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom were excellent. Depp did a wonderful job with the physical comedy and his dialogue delivery is priceless. Orlando Bloom is positively gorgeous and is possibly one of the most graceful and agile actors I’ve seen on screen in a long time.
Unlike the crappy CG effects in the Matrix and the Hulk that looked more pregnant than musclebound, the CG in this movie was pretty much flawless. The scenery was beautiful and the ships were wonderful. The movie starts out in Port Royal Jamaica, and after talking with my dad who aside from being Jamaican is a history buff when it comes to piracy in Jamaica, he says the plot of the movie, aside from the ghoul stuff, is pretty much dead on. Port Royal was a haven for pirates and the scene of a lot of invasions and bloody events after the british colonized it. That was a run-on sentence.
At any rate, if you want to see a movie, this is probably the one to see. (Charlie’s Angels 2, on the other hand, might not be worth ANYONE’S time.)
